History in the making from Soccer City

This place is nuts. It is the first time the World Cup has been held in Africa. It is a matter of great pride for the people of south Africa especially.
Friday was the opening match for the World Cup: South Africa versus Mexico
It was just strange driving down the street and seeing people wearing sombreros who were passing people decked out in the southafrican flag wearing wigs and blowing vuvuzelas. A world clash is all i can say.... work closed early singe so many streets were closing down due to the soccer traffic. I went with Hayley and her family to their golf country club to watch the opening game on the big screen with about 50 other people.

South Africa 1....Mexico 2

South African National Anthem:
(comb of Zulu, Sotho, Afrikaans, and English)

Nkosi sikelel' !Afrika
Maluphan=kanyisw' uphondo lwayo
Yizwa imithandazo yethu
Nkosi sikelela thina lusapho lwayo

Morena boloka Setjhaba sa heso
O fedise dintwa le matshwenyeho,
O se boloke, O se boloke
Setjhaba sa heso,
Setjhaba sa South Africa, South Africa.

Uit die blou van onse hemel,
uit die dieptes van ons see,
oor die ewige gebergtes
waar die kranse antwoord gee

Sounds the call to come together,
and united we shall stand.
Let us live and strive for freedom
in South Africa, our land.
